From 5 to 11 July 2026, IANAP carried out its second Job Shadowing mobility in Leipzig, Germany, hosted by Volkshochschule Leipzig (VHS), one of the country’s most historic adult education centres, with more than 100 years of continuous contribution to lifelong learning.
Representing IANAP, Alexandros Staboulis participated in a full week of professional immersion at VHS Leipzig, gaining hands‑on experience in adult education, digital learning, organisational management, and international cooperation. The mobility offered a unique opportunity to observe how a leading German adult education provider designs, manages, and delivers high‑quality learning opportunities for diverse groups of learners.
Throughout the week, Alexandros engaged in classroom observations, professional meetings, and exchange of good practices, while also exploring the internal structure and daily operations of VHS. This experience enriched IANAP’s understanding of European adult learning systems and strengthened our capacity to design innovative VET pathways aligned with future skills needs.
A Glimpse into the Work of VHS Leipzig
During the mobility, Alexandros had the chance to explore several core areas of VHS’s work:
- Basic education and inclusion, supporting adults with limited literacy or numeracy skills.
- Organisational structure, management and quality assurance, gaining insight into how a large adult education centre ensures efficiency and excellence.
- Digital and professional inclusion, including programmes that help adults strengthen digital competences and access labour‑market opportunities.
- Erasmus+ mobilities in adult, vocational and school education, learning how VHS coordinates international exchanges and builds long‑term partnerships.
This second Job Shadowing mobility marks an important step in the internationalisation of IANAP, enhancing our expertise in adult learning and opening new pathways for future European collaborations. The knowledge and practices gained in Leipzig will directly support the development of innovative VET learning paths and strengthen our role in European lifelong learning initiatives.
