On 12 and 13 May 2026, IANAP attended the Cedefop Forum “Launching the new lifelong guidance framework” in Thessaloniki, an event that brought together experts in lifelong guidance policy, research and practice from across Europe. Over two days, IANAP had the opportunity to engage with experts, practitioners and organisations working in VET systems, career development and skills policies, and to explore how the new European framework can support more coherent, inclusive and future‑ready guidance services.
The Forum took place at a time when Europe is navigating profound technological, socio‑ecological and demographic changes. These shifts are reshaping the world of work and increasing the need for high‑quality career guidance that supports individuals as they move through learning, employment and society. Throughout the event, speakers emphasised that lifelong guidance is becoming an essential policy tool for helping people manage transitions, prevent exclusion and access meaningful opportunities.
IANAP followed discussions on how the new framework can function as a practical instrument for improving services. A key message of the Forum was that high‑quality guidance is not limited to providing information; it also requires genuine interest in individuals, meaningful interaction and the creation of new learning and career experiences. The new framework aims to help countries and organisations better support people throughout their lives, ensuring that guidance systems remain relevant, accessible and responsive to changing needs.
For IANAP, the Forum was an opportunity to deepen its understanding of European developments, exchange experiences with peers, and strengthen connections with organisations in the field of VET and career guidance across Europe. The insights gained will support IANAP’s ongoing work in skills development, career support and lifelong learning.
